I've never taken a pregnancy test before. I'm due to start fertility medication ( clomid as i have pcos) which needs to be taken during day 2 of my period. I did a test just to completely rule out a pregnancy before starting the course. I did a first response and these are the results I got.
What do faint lines mean ?
Do they have to be strong to indicate a positive result ?
Are faint lines just classed as negative?
It said to hold in pee for 5 seconds , however the liquid never entered window , I had to dip it back in for another 2 or 3 seconds. Could both tests be faulty?
I also did a cheapie boots test which was negative.
I'm also bleeding and had cramps for past week which is why I'm asking , I don't know weather I'm having a period and should start my course of medication or if I should hold off because of this result incase its not a period. Any advice would be grateful. I had a positive opk 16 days ago

That looks positive to me, maybe try another test with first morning pee. Good luck

Yes that's positive

If you're still bleeding/cramping it's worth going to your local Early Pregnancy Unit, bleeding can be anything or nothing but they can take bloods and consider if you'll need a scan in a week or two.

That's definitely positive but it could be an early miscarriage if you're bleeding as it can still stay positive for a little while.

There are other reasons for bleeding though that can happen in a successful pregnancy so best to find out if you can be seen by your local epu if possible. Some you can self refer to, others you need a gp referral to

Fingers crossed for a positive outcome for you!

Also meant to say, hcg is supposed to roughly double every 48 hours in a successful pregnancy. So test again in a couple of days with first wee of the day. If the line is darker than that's a good sign!

It’s definitely positive but like previous posters say I would ask at doctors as you’re bleeding with cramping which can be an early miscarriage

i have had 2 miscarriages/CPs both at nearly 5 weeks but was told until you’ve had 3 miscarriages they won’t check you unless you are at least 6 weeks pregnant as nothing they can do until then anyway.

@user000 Is difficult to tell, I think I might able to see a very very faint line although I'm not certain based on that pic.
I'd advise taking another test in few days to see of the line gets stronger

ok thank you. It is tricky to tell. I had cramps 2 days ago, so thought it was AF and then they went away. I wasnt sure if that could be implantation but it was 10 DPO so perhaps a bit late...and with frer i guess i would expect that we would have a positive clearly by 12 dpo or 2 days after implantation!?

allgoodthings84 · 06/01/2023 16:01

@user000 if you implanted on 10dpo a frer would have a clear line on 12dpo I would imagine but everyone is different

Thanks for all your messages ladies. I since a clearblue test, all faint line aswell. I'm fact all 6 tests are positive which I can't quite believe after all these years of trying that we actually got pregnant given they said how hard it would be based on my pcos diagnosis and his sem*n results. Unfortunately I'm still bleeding which dosent seem to be letting up and my surgery said there's nothing they can do that its just a waiting game 🤞

Tentative congratulations op. I had similar bleeding and it was implantation bleeding all was fine. Fingers crossed for you.

@MK85 this all sounds very positive for you. FWIW, my friend - who now has a very healthy happy 5 year old - was bleeding throughout her pregnancy on and off. It sounds like your surgery are not too alarmed so fingers crossed for you!

Hey! I am 7 days late for my period, and have taken this strip test today after negative clearblue a few days ago. Not sure if I am going crazy, but can anyone else see a faint line?

thank you!

@thatnattyp Please start your own thread! I can’t see anything on that test, it looks flooded. I’d be expecting a much stronger line if you were indeed 7 days late.

Report

PickledScrump · 10/04/2023 17:55

@thatnattyp thats a negative test. By 7 days late there would be a non disputable line.

Just to assure you not everyone gets clear pregnancy tests with my first I had all clear negatives till 14weeks.5day and even then it was so faint. Clear blue digital said I was only 1-2weeks 😂. He’s now nearly 14. Second son clear positives at 2 weeks late on my period. This time wasn’t trying completely unexpected and I’m getting faint but easy to see positives and my period is due today

Hi, trying to conceive for three months and my cycles are normal long. I was due for my period on Tuesday being cycle day 37 but have been having brown spotting and bleeding since Saturday cycle day 34, no red blood at all just brown. Done a pregnancy test this morning and not sure if this is a faint positive and I’m getting line eyes? What do you guys think?
